Prayer of St Francis

Lord make me an instrument of your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
And where there is sadness, joy
O divine master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love
For it is in giving that we receive
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it’s in dying that we are born to eternal life
Amen
Although I am educated in many religions, I am a follower of none.
I have, however, always had an affinity with this prayer and the hymn version it inspired π€

Isn’t it amazing that we have the exact same prayer in almost every religion?
Amen.

The Franciscan motto is my favorite prayer. It’s so simple. Why not. Franciscans officiated in many of the churches in my hometown. I heard it every day because I went to morning mass before school. It was inspiring and felt good.
Best wishes
